TIVANNAH GLOBAL, LDA. Luanda, Angola (Africa) – January 2008 until October 2008, Principal Software Engineer Contractor.  For the Ministry of Planning for the Angolan Government created web site both in Portuguese and English www.minplan.gv.ao (to be released August 2008).  Macromedia Dreamweaver was used to create this site using HTML and Cascade Style Sheets (CSS).  For the Ministry of Finance created a database using Oracle 10g to communicate with a legacy database Grupta-Centra/SQLBase.  Used various tools such as Perl scripting, ERWin, SQL Developer and Oracle 10g XE – browser based interface.  Used PL/SQL Stored Procedures to query both the Planning and Finance databases.  Software Configuration Management was done under TortoiseSVN.

 

I was also responsible for the two Windows 2000 Servers for doing systems maintenance such as daily backups.

INTEL, Inc., Hillsboro, OR – October 2004 until November 2004 – Quality Assurance Linguist.  Performed Q/A of the help text in Italian translated from English for the Intel server.

 

HARRAH’S ENTERTAINMENT, Memphis, TN – June 2004 until September 2004, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  Installed and updated GROUP1 software products: CODE-1 Plus for both US and Canada and GEOGRAPHIC Plus.  Also updated the address databases for these three products.  Modified installation scripts written in KORN shell scripts and PERL that were run on an AIX UNIX system.

 

COMPUTER SCIENCES CORP., East Greenbush, NY – May 2003 until September 2003 – Senior Designer/Developer Contractor.  For the State of New York Medicaid System performed gap analysis for HIPPA transaction 837P, 837I, 837D, 270/271, 276/277, 278 and 997 using the X12 standard implementation guides and appropriate addenda for each transaction.  Also did similarly for Form 1500 HCFA and UB92.  Used PERL and KORN shell scripts on AIX UNIX system.

 

BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD OF OREGON, Portland, OR – March 2001 until April 2002, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  Responsible for the maintenance and development of a membership autoloader system for the Oregon Health Plan (OHP), Membership Autoload Process (MAP) and Group Autoload Process (GAP) written in UNIX/C which interfaces with a membership database system written in COBOL on an IBM mainframe computer using CICS and TSO.  Wrote numerous FTP scripts in Korn Shell and PERL.  Modified COBOL and JCL code for these systems as well as supported the weekly and monthly production runs on the AIX UNIX system.

 

FRED MEYER, INC., Portland, OR - October 2000 until March 2001, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  Using C, KORN shell & PERL scripting and INFORMIX, supported the PTF (Package Transfer Function) of Instore Support Processor (IBM R6000 AIX UNIX System).  Also developed INFORMIX PL/SQL routines called from KORN shell and PERL scripts to populate tables from ASCII delimited data feeds to be used by VLM (Visual Labor Management) System a labor job scheduling management tool on IBM R6000 systems.

 

RULESPACE, INC., Portland, OR - May 2000 until October 2000, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  Using C on Red Hat Linux wrote test software to test the API for EATK (Embedded Analysis Toolkit), which is a document rater, used to rate web site pages.  Also wrote a stress testing and accuracy program to test OLTK (Online Toolkit), which rates URLs for content categories and languages.  Used PERL and bash scripts to invoke these test programs and to manipulate data.

 

NIKE, INC., Beaverton, OR – January 2000 until May 2000, Senior ORACLE Programmer Contractor.  Using PL/SQL stored procedures and triggers under Oracle 8i developed a griege raw material forecasting and reporting system for the Global Apparel Manufacturing IT Development Group.  This system is used to forecast and report undyed material requirements.  Used SQL Navigator as a development tool.  Also wrote PERL shell scripts.

 

ZAIRMAIL, Portland, OR – October 1999 until January 2000, Senior Database Architect/Developer Contractor.  Designed and implemented a database used in an e-commerce environment.  Used Microsoft Access for the prototype, then using the design tool ERWin designed an ORACLE 8i database used on a Windows NT server.  Also wrote PL/SQL stored procedures and triggers to perform various database functions that were called from the application layer.  (See the URLs my.zairmail.com and www.zairmail.com)

KAISER-PERMANENTE, Lake Oswego, OR - March 1999 until October 1999, Senior Applications Developer Contractor.  For the NIS Project (National Insurance System) worked in the area of membership and benefits using the ORACLE report writing tool Business Objects.  This tool created SQL code based on universe descriptions. This was done on a Windows NT system using Oracle 8i.  Used SQL Station to create and test stored SQL procedures and triggers.

 

Software Configuration Manager for the Interface, Reports and Conversions teams for the aforementioned NIS Project using Rational's ClearCase version control software.  Performed ClearCase administrative duties both on Windows NT and AIX UNIX systems.  Supported over 30 developers both in Lake Oswego and Silver Springs, Maryland.

OREGON STEEL MILLS, Inc., Portland, OR - June 1997 until November 1997, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  For a Time & Attendance system, modified existing code written in UNIX-C with embedded SQL for a HP9000 system.  Wrote reports using INFORMIX ACE report language.  Converted this system to run under ORACLE.  Converted the INFORMIX ACE reports to ORACLE SQL/Plus.

 

REYNOLDS & REYNOLDS, Inc., Beaverton, OR - May 1996 until March 1997, Programmer Analyst - Level III Technical Support.  Using C in an AIX-UNIX environment, programmed, debugged and maintained a patient management system used in large clinic/hospital managed care health system.  This system includes registration, patient scheduling, AR, cashiering, financial reporting, and managed care functions.  Also worked in the area of insurance with paper claims (HCFA 1500) and EMC (Electronic Media Claims).

 

INFORMEDICS, Inc., Lake Oswego, OR - August 1995 until April 1996, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  In a SCO/UNIX environment, programmed in C in the area of EMC (Electronic Media Claims), which was used in a clinic management system.  Patient related insurance claim data was formatted into the NSF (National Standard Format) or the Blue Cross of Oregon, Washington & Alaska Universal Format and sent to the appropriate insurance carrier or clearing house.  This software is a table driven program.  Built the tables for this program to provide the Universal Format for data going to Blue Cross of Washington & Alaska, which acts as a clearinghouse for Washington State Medicaid (DSHS), Washington State Medicare Part B, Washington State Labor & Industries, and Washington State Blue Cross.  Built the table for this program to provide the NSF format for data going to Health Communication Services in Richmond, VA, which acts as a clearing house for Blue Cross of Oregon and Oregon Medicare Part B.  Also provided telephone customer support for this system.

 

IMPACT STAFFING, Beaverton, OR - April 1995 until July 1995, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  In a UNIX environment for MEDIPAY, programmed in INFORMIX-4GL for a client management/billing/financial system in the area of public health/mental health for a MEDICARE/MEDICAID hospital/clinic application.  This system is used exclusively in the states of Oregon and Washington.

 

PACIFIC ONE SYSTEMS, Inc., Fullerton, CA - November 1994 until April 1995, Senior Software Engineer Contractor.  For the Los Angeles Community College District Information Systems Department designed and programmed student information applications in FOCUS in a VAX/VMS environment.  The software was development on a PC and then later ported over to a VAX system.  For the Neutragena Corp. developed DCL procedures to compile FORTRAN programs and LINK then with current library object modules.  These procedures also tracked module differences and library histories.

 

SOUTHWOOD PHARMACEUTICALS, INC. / EXPRESS CALL, INC., Torrance, CA - January 1993 until December 1994, Director of Management Information Systems and V/P Marketing and Sales.  Designed and developed a PC-based direct marketing mailing system using Group One’s ARCLIST, a mailing list data base management system and ACCUMAIL, an address standardization and ZIP+4 code insertion program which also determines PostNet barcodes, carrier routing and delivery point barcodes.  The mailing lists were created using ProPhone’s CD-ROM telephone directory of 10 million US businesses.  The appropriate businesses were selected based on their SIC (Standard Industry Codes).  Modified SCRIPTS, a physician’s office based prescription dispensing program written in INFORMIX-4GL, a SQL-based application development language.

 

BETA TESTER FOR INFORMIX-4GL for Windows 3.0 Using this INFORMIX product converted the above MS-DOS program to use a GUI interface and run under Windows 3.0

 

SIMULATION SCIENCES, Fullerton, CA - December 1989 until January 1993, Senior Software Engineer.  Wrote various utilities in FORTRAN-77 for both an IBM PC compatible and an uVAX to generate and manage several databases used in a chemical process simulation environment.  Also wrote software to validate the integrity of these databases.  Converted a data regression program that was written for the PC to run on an uVAX.
